Last month the Media & Design Departments at Los Angeles Trade Technical College held their

The Symposium was held on Saturday, June 8th, and was an exciting event full of eager Design &

Media students showcasing their talents with contests like Denim Deconstruction ( repurposing a

old pair of jeans), T-Shirt Re-design, Apron-ology- ( re-purpose anything into a wearable apron)

and a Style-Out contest with teams of students styled live models for photo shoots, with the themes

being “The Great Gatsby” & “Steampunk”.

One of the most exciting contests was the Quick Sketch pencil drawing using a live model provided

by Trade Tech. Students were assembled and ready when the timer began, and each had 30 min-

utes to start and finish the sketch of the model, and if they missed the first timer, there was a second

session they could try.

The Symposium was attended by many other vendors and teachers in the Design & Media depart-

ments, and many students that brought out their friends and parents to participate in all the fun.

Trade Technical College finished the event with a flourish, holding their Fashion Show as the

grand finale, with all of the students participating.
